More than 700 people were assisted by Malta Red Cross lifeguards while another 900 were given help by the Malta Red Cross ambulance service team last year.
The majority of assistance required involved basic first aid but a few incidents were more serious, some life threatening.
Last year, Malta Red Cross provided first aid services at 503 events and water rescue and lifeguarding services in eight venues, exceeding 10,000 man hours. The national society also provided first aid education services to 4,000 people.
Furthermore, Malta Red Cross assisted individuals in restoring and maintaining family links, with additional psychological support.
The Malta Red Cross appealed to all interested in volunteering to contact their offices on [email protected].
